It is my desire to provoke the greatest range of emotion, upon you, the observer.  In this, bringing forth the very nature of your innermost feelings…from generations of cellular memory.

I created this image as a chance to “Remember…” Remember all the sacrifices the People and Nations have made in the paths to freedom.  Remember the loss of life. Terroristic actions against each Nation.  The ability to move forward in that loss.  The way in which People and Nations will choose to fight any oppressor to maintain its way of life and freedoms.  And finally, the circumstances we all share, how we support each other to overcome these shared tragedies.

All sides of my family, Nanticoke, Sioux, Scottish, and French, are the poles in which I can draw this image forward to associate the parallels of “Twin Nations”.  I adhere to the Traditions of my Nanticoke family, while I also live in a world of European influences.  We call this “walking in two worlds”.  I have come to embrace both.  This makes “our country”, and me, who I am and what it is.

This image has stirred hatred, anger, grief, nervousness, and even sadistic humor.  The parallels are stunning, and hopefully, get your attention.  This is why I have chosen this platform, to communicate something with you.  Without too much voice to contain its meaning.

As you reach your eyes into history, give thanks, first and foremost to those Ancestors who provided you with your “freedoms”.  Reach in to your heart and set yourself free.  Do not misunderstand me when I say, “We are all still fighting for these freedoms.”

I know that a large number of Native Peoples were praying for all those who lost their lives on 9.11.  Because we understand the very basis in which all our own feelings about it were based.  We embrace our own sadness, linked with those families who lost their Relatives, and can say we understand.  We are all still here.  We continue to “Fight the good fight”.  It does not matter how long, generations upon generations.  We pray for the sanctity of All our Relatives.

I have chosen to take 10% of the proceeds of this image and split it; 5% going to the “Crazy Horse Memorial” in South Dakota and 5% to one of the funds set up for the families who lost Relatives on that day.  In this I can honor both sides of “Twin Nations”.
