Love, Passion and the Art of Romance

The image presented here are part of a series based on the male body.  So much of what we see of the male figure is hard and rigid.  Stereotypically, it is the female form that is presented as sensual and soft, the sex of desire.  For me, I do not associate one sex with something to be desired and the other with the sex who desires.  If extremes exist, then they are embodied by both sexes.

In this photograph, I have combined the lushness of open fruit and the clean lines of a bald head.  It might be a simple combination and perhaps a simple metaphor too; yet in a world heavily dominated with images of women being the gender of life, it is my intention to remind us that men provide the complimentary energy with which life ripens.
